Q.
I’m creating a character and animating it.
But I want to modify the basic pose.
If I modify the basic pose, do I have to start over from scratch?
A.
“Base pose” can mean one of two things:
1. Repositioning the meshes
2. Changing the position or structure of the bones
You can still do 1 and 2 even after rigging and animation are complete.
For case 1, select the Setting tab of the mesh group, turn on the “Default Transform” mode, and change the position of the mesh.
For case 2, turn on the Bone tab of the mesh group and you can modify the bones.
Rigging works based on the basic positions of the mesh and bones, and after each basic position or shape is changed, it works according to that state.
Therefore, there is no need to redo Rigging from the beginning.
Even so, you may need to edit Rigging and Animation a little.
In the case of Rigging modifiers, you need to re-calibrate Rigging Weight according to the changed pose.
If the basic pose has changed too much, you may need to modify the animation a lot.
This operation is somewhat risky, so it is recommended to make a backup or duplicate the GameObject of the AnyPortrait character to make a copy.
