It seems like the animation is updating when the character is not visible.
How do I stop the animation when the patrolling characters are not visible?A.
The Update call is not automatically stopped depending on whether the characters are rendered or not.
If you call Hide() directly in a separate script, you can prevent unnecessary Updates.
